Weight Loss Review - Do the Fat Burning Methods of Yoga Work?

By Jim Cassa

Is it possible to achieve weight loss with simple yet effective Yoga movements? Some people have good success with weight loss by attending Yoga classes. One wonders how this can be. For many the ancient practice of Yoga can be considered a low impact physical activity. Yet the home runs are on the board. Some people do lose weight with yoga. Here we are going to have a look at some of the practical and scientific reasons why this is possible.

First. If someone goes from no movement or exercise to some exercise there may be some noticeable improvement in muscle tone and weight loss. A sedentary lifestyle does not burn as many calories as an active one. When a person starts a physical activity program such as going to the gym, running or yoga the ' fire of metabolism' starts to kick in. So is is possible that the simple act of movement and physical exertion gives the weight loss result. It would not matter if the activity was yoga, running, lifting weights in a gym. The act of moving the body, while living in our modern sedentary age, is the key.

Second. Specific yoga movements can 'fine tune' the endocrine system. The endocrine system consists of ductless glands throughout the body. The pituitary gland, thyroid, parathyroid, thymus, adrenals, and ovaries, or testes, make up the endocrine system. If this system is not working properly the body is in trouble. Yoga can get the endocrine system running more efficiently. It does this by targeting individual glands with specific postures. A feeling of lightness and well being usually indicate a well running and healthy endocrine system.

Third. The body has to deal with bodily wastes all the time. The liver, kidneys, and lymph glands work 24 hours a day to eliminate these wastes from the body. Yoga can help get rid of these wastes. Certain Yoga movements encourage the quick removal of waste products form the body. This helps keep the internal organs and blood of the body clean. Any form of waste should not stay in the body too long. It just taxes the body too much .This is why detox diets are so popular. But what is often overlooked is the fact that physical movement is a form of detoxing too. You are just using movement instead of food. People who practice yoga regularly learn how to keep their internal body clean with certain Yoga practices.

Conclusion. Many people from around the world have good results with weight loss from yoga physical movements. They feel healthier and better for it. Doing Yoga once or more a week is a healthy lifestyle choice for thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of people around the globe. Why not make it your healthy choice?
